Silage Harvest Machine Operator
Job Description
Five months on the harvest run: four grass cuts from May, then maize in September, across all eleven farms. Long days when the weather window opens, proper days off when it closes.
What you will do
- Mow, ted, row up and cart grass across our Gelderland and Overijssel blocks to the contractor's schedule
- Buckrake and roll the clamp evenly so the pit consolidates and we do not lose a cut to spoilage
- Sheet, weight and seal clamps the same day they are filled
- Run the maize harvest cart work in September and keep the yard clean between loads
- Daily greasing, filter checks and a written machinery log — breakdowns in a weather window cost us a cut
What we are looking for
- Confident on tractors of 150hp and up with trailed kit; loader shovel experience an advantage
- Willing to work long days when the forecast is right, with time back afterwards
- Category T or equivalent tractor entitlement, or an EU licence we can convert
- Mechanical common sense and the habit of reporting a fault before it becomes a failure
- Non-EU applicants welcome — we sponsor the seasonal work permit for the full harvest run
Good to know
- Season: Silage and maize harvest — May to September
- Department: Harvest
- Open to non-EU nationals — we sponsor the seasonal work permit
