Olive Harvest Picker
Job Description
Bring in the Galega and Cobrançosa crop on the Beja estates between October and December, working the rows behind the shakers and hand-picking the old trees the machines cannot reach.
What you will do
- Hand-pick and net-collect olives on the older terraced blocks where machine harvesting is not possible
- Work the catch frames and nets behind the trunk shakers and keep fruit off the ground
- Empty crates to the trailer point and keep each parcel’s fruit in its own labelled lot
- Follow the eight-hour rule between picking and mill delivery — the oil depends on it
What we are looking for
- Fit for sustained outdoor work in cold mornings and rain, six days a week at peak
- No previous harvest experience needed — induction and training are paid
- Basic Portuguese, English or Spanish, enough to follow a safety briefing
- Available for the full October to December run; crew rooms in Beja and Ferreira do Alentejo available
