Calf Rearing Assistant
وصف الوظيفة
Five months looking after every calf born in the Friesland spring block, from the first feed to weaning at around 70 days. One person, one group of calves, start to finish.
What you will do
- Feed twice daily to the milk-replacer plan and adjust volumes as calves grow
- Weigh calves at 14 and 56 days and report the daily gain against our 800g target
- Spot scour and pneumonia in the first hours — temperature checks, and the vet called before a calf goes down
- Keep igloos and group pens dry and bedded, and steam-clean between batches
- Introduce starter feed, water and hay from day four and record intakes
What we are looking for
- Patience — calves reward routine and punish improvisation
- Some experience with young stock, or a genuine willingness to be trained by our calf specialist
- Fit enough for repeated lifting of feed bags and buckets across a long spring
- Reliable early starts; first feed is at 06:00 every day of the block
- Non-EU applicants welcome — we sponsor the seasonal work permit and help with registration at the gemeente
Good to know
- Season: Spring calf run — February to June
- Department: Herd Care
- Open to non-EU nationals — we sponsor the seasonal work permit
