Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzrda-wPIc8About the position Nord University, Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture (FBA), advertises a temporary 100% position as university lecturer in animal science with entry from 01.07.2026. The position is placed in the subject group Livestock, production and welfare and is primarily associated with the study program bachelor in livestock science. The position has an office in Steinkjer, but can also be assigned tasks at the place of study Bodø. The language of instruction is Norwegian and takes place physically at the place of study. We are looking for someone with animal science, veterinary medicine or other relevant agricultural background. New graduates are welcome as applicants.
Tasks The person employed will be given work and teaching tasks according to the faculty's needs and own competence. Particularly relevant areas are cattle production, small livestock production, sports and family animals and supervision of student assignments, preferably at bachelor's level. The teaching in livestock subjects must be adapted to Nordic conditions.
Depending on the professional profile, whoever is hired must participate in the development of the educational environment and contribute to administrative tasks linked to teaching, research and communication.
Qualification requirements Employment as university lecturer
- A passed academic degree at master's level in animal science, veterinary medicine or another relevant agricultural field is required
- Norwegian skills at level B2 and good oral and written presentation skills in Norwegian (possibly a Scandinavian language) and English.
- For applicants who do not have one of the Scandinavian languages as their mother tongue, both oral and written language skills must be documented.
- When assessing and ranking qualified applicants, emphasis will be placed on: Experience from teaching and supervision at bachelor's, master's and doctoral level from the university and college sector.
- Competence and experience from work related to livestock keeping under Norwegian / Nordic conditions.
- Educational competence
- Research and development work within the field.
- Good ability to communicate and collaborate with students and colleagues
- Personal qualities that can contribute positively to the working environment can be given decisive weight
We can offer The position is paid according to the Government's regulations, code 1009 university lecturer. Salary by agreement.
Statutory contributions to the State pension fund are made from the salary.

General information The employee must comply with the laws, agreements and instructions that apply to the position at all times. Reservations are made for changes in the area of responsibility and work as a result of future organizational development and reorganization at Nord University.
It is expected that the appointed person completes an 8-hour course in university pedagogy. The course is offered digitally from Nord University (cf. supplementary provisions for educational competence, see more information on Nord's website.
