Natural Grazing Employee (Shepherd / Nature Manager)

Do you like being outside and do you have an affinity with animals and nature?

We are looking for a motivated sheep herder/nature manager for the daily management of our grazing herds. You work with sheep in nature reserves and contribute to biodiversity, landscape management and sustainable nature maintenance.

The main task is to organize grazing. Every day you are busy placing and moving flexi nets, mowing a track for the placement of these nets and guiding the herd at the various grazing locations. You will also assist during the lambing period and with shearing. You maintain the equipment and take care of limited administration of the grazing and the animals.

You work according to the established grazing plan and agreements made. You are responsible for the quality of the management work and the animal welfare of the herd. Sometimes you work independently, at other times together with colleagues.

This is a varied position for someone who likes to work independently, takes responsibility and is not afraid of physical work in all weather conditions.

Your tasks:

• Daily check of the sheep flock.
• Installing, moving and dismantling flexi nets and other fencing on a daily basis.
• Mowing tracks and preparing areas for the installation of grids.
• Supervising and organizing grazing in nature reserves.
• Monitor the health, welfare and safety of the animals.
• Identify health problems and take appropriate action if necessary.
• Maintenance of equipment, pastures, drinking water supplies and infrastructure.
• Registration of animal data and carrying out simple administrative tasks.
• Helping during the lambing season, with transports and other activities on the farm.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has an affinity with sheep, agriculture or nature management.
• Likes to work outside in all seasons.
• Can work independently and responsibly.
• Is practical and can solve problems.
• Treats animals, nature and visitors with respect.
• In possession of a driving license B.
